A man accused of selling hallucinogenic mushrooms outside of the Mt. Orab Kroger Marketplace was indicted by a Brown County grand jury on Feb. 11, and he is now facing three felony counts in the case.
Corey J. Thoroman, last known to live at 11033 Schweighart Rd in Winchester, was indicted on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, both fourth-degree felonies, and one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
Each count includes a specification for forfeiture of a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck and $940.00 in U.S. currency seized during the bust.
According to prosecutors, a witness called police around 9:00 PM on Oct. 22, 2015, reporting a suspicious hand-to-hand transaction between two individuals parked closely to each other on the lower end of the Kroger Marketplace parking lot in Mt. Orab.
During the investigation, a K-9 officer with Mt. Orab Police seized approximately $940.00 in cash and 25.78 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Under questioning, Thoroman allegedly admitted to being at the parking lot for the purpose of selling “a quarter bag” of mushrooms for $60.00, prosecutors said.
The evidence was collected and the case was presented to a grand jury for indictment following identification of the substance from an Ohio state crime lab.
According to the Ohio Revised Code, the compounds psilocybin and psilocin found in hallucinogenic mushrooms are Schedule I controlled substances in Ohio.
A warrant on indictment has now been issued for the arrest of Corey Thoroman, who currently remains at large.

Magic mushrooms aren’t crack or heroin. They don’t destroy lives. In fact they have probably saved a few people and helped them gain a new insight on life.

This is just pointless I’m sorry! But he’s not some big time drug dealer, it was for personal use, he was giving some to a friend! its just shrooms no harm done! Just like everyone else said its not like its heroin or crack or meth! This is a worthless charge anyway, take someone’s car, which by the way ain’t even his car! And his money that wasn’t from selling, he just cashed his check! But that doesn’t matter, you think you all are accomplishing something and there’s still heroin and method everywhere in Mount Orab! Do something about that instead of worrying about shrooms! You all have no case anyway, the Mount Orab police department is worthless, so is Brown county all together!

What gave the officer probable cause to search his vehicle? It says K9 officer, does that mean Mt Orab police dogs are trained to smell mushrooms?
