A man is under arrest who allegedly assaulted a Ripley Police officer, possibly breaking his jaw, before fleeing with his gun.
Kyle C. Moore, age 26, last known to live at 730 Old State Route 32, Apt. 12, allegedly attacked Officer John Amole during a call related to a domestic dispute with his girlfriend Wednesday night, Jan. 13.
Amole found Moore walking in front of the PCP-Champion Metalworks in Ripley, where police say Moore knocked Amole unconscious and fled with his gun. Police said Amole discovered Moore had active warrants out for him for fleeing & eluding in Maysville, Kentucky and radioed for backup shortly after being attacked.
Police were unable to immediately locate Moore after the assault, but eventually found him near the Ohio Valley Manor outside of Ripley the next morning. He reportedly went inside the center to use their phone and was recognized by patrons that called police.
While searching for Moore, police were informed he may attempt to kill his sister’s boyfriend before committing a “suicide-by-cop”. He is also reportedly being investigated in a purse-snatching incident that happened at Yum Yum Restaurant during the manhunt.
The officer’s stolen firearm has been recovered, police said.
Ripley Police were assisted by Aberdeen Police, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Georgetown Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Russellville Police in the search for Moore.
According to police, Amole was flighted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of a broken jaw and nose, and was released Thursday morning. Amole’s nose is broken in two places and his jaw in three, and Amole will have to undergo several surgeries.
Moore has been charged with first-degree felony assault, and is awaiting transport to Butler County Jail on $2 million bond. He is expected to face additional charges.
Additionally, Moore had unrelated warrants on third-degree felony failure to comply with order or signal of police officer and fifth-degree felony obstructing justice related to an incident from Monday, Jan. 11.

why didn’t the officer wait for his backup he called . why call a back up if you don’t wait for them . you never know what is going to happen now a days . after Moore took his service revolver, he could of shot and killed the officer. Sorry but a dumb move by the officer. I hope Moore goes to the big house for a long time. you never know when or where something like this is going to happen.

My husband the officer was trying to wait for backup…unfortunately the guy didn’t want to sit there and smile and wave until backup got there and wanted to leave…so how about you become a cop since your an expert??
