A Brown County man with three previous convictions of domestic violence was indicted on Thursday, Nov 5 on new domestic violence charges.

It is alleged at around 11:00PM on Oct 23, Christopher Kirby, age 35, got into an argument with his girlfriend inside their home at 1986 Tri-County Highway, Sterling Township.

Kirby, angry over Facebook posts, began repeatedly punching his girlfriend in the face, chest and lower body until she was able to escape to a bathroom, according to the criminal complaint.

In the complaint, the victim claims she accidentally broke a mirror while fleeing into the bathroom. When Kirby forced his way into the bathroom, he held the girlfriend down and cut her left forearm with a broken piece of glass from the mirror.

The victim reported the incident to Brown County Sheriff’s Office the next day. Deputies took pictures of her injuries, which included a black right eye, bruising to her right thigh and chest that was considered severe, and shallow cuts on her left forearm.

Kirby was subsequently arrested and has been held in the Brown County Adult Detention Center since Oct 24.

Due to Kirby having three previous domestic violence convictions, his charges were elevated to third-degree felony domestic violence in the indictment.
