Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Ripley Police Department are investigating an armed bank robbery that happened on Monday morning, Nov 30.
Brown County Communications Center received a call at 11:19 AM from an employee of First State Bank of Ripley claiming a man with a bandana draped over his face had produced a handgun and demanded money. He fled with approximately $5,300 in cash, according to the caller.
Nearby, discarded clothes, boots and a fake handgun believed to be used during the robbery were located.
Deputy Chief Carl Smith of Brown County Sheriff’s Office reportedly told local newspaper News Democrat a person of interest is currently being sought.
The suspect allegedly fled with the stolen cash in a blue vinyl backpack and was described as approximately six foot tall by the 911 caller. He may have left the scene in a gray minivan driven by another unidentified individual.
