Decatur man indicted for DUI crash with injury

by Aaron Gibson, Feb. 12, 2016

A Brown County grand jury indicted a Decatur man on Feb. 11 accused of a drunk driving crash that left a passenger with a broken neck.

Prosecutors say on the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 2015, Cody Little, of 10092 South Street in Decatur, ran his vehicle off of State Route 125 in Byrd Township, striking a tree and causing serious injuries to passenger Ryan Clark.

Witnesses allegedly spotted the two attempting to leave the scene on foot. Both men were soon apprehended and questioned.

Clark was transported to Adams County Regional Medical Center, where he was determined to have a spinal cord injury. Emergency services then transported Clark by life squad to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and he was further diagnosed with a broken neck that required surgery.

Presently, Clark is still undergoing routine follow-up visits with the hospital as he recovers from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to court records, Little refused tests to determine his level of impairment at the time of the crash, but the arresting officer noted that Little had bloodshot glassy eyes he could not control and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.

Brown County Municipal Court records also indicate Little has been convicted on a prior impaired driving offense.

Little was indicted by a Brown County grand jury Feb. 11 on one count of second-degree felony aggravated vehicular assault and one count of first-degree misdemeanor operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Cody Little, who does not appear to currently be in police custody. He faces between 2 and 8 years in prison if convicted.
