A Hamersville man accused of strangling his girlfriend while armed with a shotgun was arrested on Friday evening, March 11.
Brandon Stephenson, age 26, has been charged with second-degree felony assault after he allegedly restrained his girlfriend on the ground and strangled her until she went unconscious. Detectives allege Stephenson was armed with a shotgun and threatened the victim with the gun during the offense.
The incident occurred at their OH-125 residence near Hamersville on Friday night, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
If convicted, a firearm specification could add an extra year in prison to Stephenson’s sentence. Stephenson faces a maximum sentence of nine years in prison on the charges.
Stephenson was arraigned Saturday morning in Brown County Municipal Court. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash, surety or property.
