A Cincinnati man convicted of allegedly attempting to inappropriately touch a seven year old child in Aberdeen was sentenced to one year in prison on Tuesday, March 15.
Guy Friend, age 32, was indicted by a Brown County grand jury on charges alleging he sexually touched a seven year old child on Oct. 18, 2015. On Tuesday, Friend pleaded guilty in Brown County Common Pleas Court to an amended charge of fourth-degree felony attempted gross sexual imposition. Friend was sentenced by Judge Scott T. Gusweiler to a 12-month prison sentence with a mandatory five years post-release control.
Gusweiler ruled Friend must also register as a Tier II sex offender.
Defense lawyer Katherine Kelly represented Friend in the case. In Friend’s defense, Kelly questioned the court on whether or not the child was competent enough to act as a witness against Friend.
According to court documents, Brown County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call immediately following the alleged incident on Oct. 18, 2015. That morning, Friend was placed under arrest by Aberdeen Police and transported to the Brown County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on $50,000 cash, surety or property bond.
