A Decatur man accused of holding his girlfriend against her will for several hours and beating her with a strap-like object was arrested by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, March 17.
Detectives said Jayson Stafford allegedly broke his girlfriend’s cell phone and restrained her in a bedroom for approximately 10 hours at his home on the Decatur outskirts on Thursday morning, covering the victim’s mouth and holding her down as she tried to leave.
Stafford allegedly used a strap-like object with a buckle on the end to strike the victim and allegedly choked and punched her several times during the incident. The victim told detectives she eventually escaped when Stafford was not looking and ran to a store in Decatur. Stafford was then arrested at his home, according to detectives.
The victim received injuries to her face, neck and other areas on her body allegedly caused by Stafford. She was transported to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital.
Stafford was arraigned Friday morning in Brown County Municipal Court. He has been charged with second-degree felony kidnapping and second-degree felony assault. Bond was set at $150,000 cash, surety or property.
