Fayetteville man accused of raping child 6 years ago

A Fayetteville man was booked into jail Monday, May 23, accused of raping a child less than ten years old between 2009 and 2010.

Timothy Schmidt, age 33, faces a preliminary charge of first-degree felony rape in the incident.

According to court documents, Schmidt allegedly sexually abused a child between September 2009 and March 2010.

The victim was eight years old at the time the alleged abuse ended.

Schmidt was arraigned Monday morning in Brown County Municipal Court. A preliminary hearing has been set for June 26.

Katherine Kelly will represent Schmidt as his attorney, according to court records.

Schmidt remains in Butler County Jail per contract with Brown County on a $250,000 cash, surety or property bond.
