A Lake Waynoka woman was arrested Wednesday, Dec 16 on suspicion of stealing jewelry and other collectibles from her parents.

Under police questioning, Amber Powell, age 29, allegedly admitted to stealing and pawning several items of jewelry belonging to her parents. She was quoted as saying she pawned her mother’s jewelry at Facet Pawn in Amelia, Ohio.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Brown County Municipal Court, Powell is accused of stealing several items of jewelry belonging to her mother, and several collectible coins, $2 dollar bills, and a still packaged action figure belonging to her father.

An initial estimated value for the stolen items is approximately $1,800.

The mother allegedly told Chief Ellis of Lake Waynoka Police Department she had been letting Powell stay with her for about two months after Powell was released from a half-way house.

Powell has been charged with fifth-degree felony theft and was released from jail on her own recognizance. She is expected to appear in court Jan 14, 2016.
