Russellville men sexually assaulted teen, gave teen drugs

Two Russellville men accused of sexually assaulting a teen and giving the teen drugs are facing a number of charges, including rape, following an indictment handed down on Thursday, Nov. 2.

According to investigators, on Sept. 29, Andrew Abercrombie, age 30, and Zachariah Thomas, age 29, allegedly gave crystal meth to the victim, age 14, and engaged in sexual activity with the 14-year-old, knowing the teen was under the influence of the drug.

Thomas faces an extra charge for allegedly using marijuana with the teen.

Abercrombie is being indicted on two counts of rape, a first-degree felony, two counts of corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of unlawful sexual conduct of a minor, a third-degree felony. An arrest warrant for Abercrombie was still active at press time.

The indictment against Thomas includes one count of rape, a first-degree felony, two counts of fourth-degree corrupting another with drugs, one count of fourth-degree corrupting another with drugs, one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a third-degree felony.

Thomas was arrested Oct. 16 in Russellville and held on preliminary charges. He pleaded not guilty at a Nov. 3 arraignment. Bond was set at $250,000 cash, surety or property.
