Couple sought in Russellville burglary investigation

A girlfriend-and-boyfriend couple are at large after Georgetown Police allege the two possessed jewelry stolen in a burglary near Russellville.

On Wednesday, Dec 16, Georgetown Police were conducting a welfare check for an elderly woman on Douglas Circle. She allegedly had three squatters living in her residence that refused to leave.

Brittney Conn, Chuckie Ratliff and an unidentified man allegedly had been squatting inside of the residence, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Brown County Municipal Court.

The affidavit says Ratliff and the other man fled the residence before police arrived. While searching the residence, Georgetown Police Officer Kyle Singleton allegedly discovered less than a gram of heroin and drug paraphernalia inside of a black coat owned by Conn.

According to the affidavit, police also recovered from Ratliff and Conn’s belongings antique jewelry believed to have been stolen during a burglary on Mount Aire Rd near Russellville.

Later, the victims from the suspected Mount Aire burglary confirmed the jewelry may belong to them. The jewelry has an estimated value between $1,500 and $7,500.

Conn was arrested and charged with fifth-degree felony possession of heroin and fourth-degree misdemeanor illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $5,000 OR bond. The following day, a warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property.

Ratliff is also wanted and faces a charge of fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property.

Four indicted over Georgetown hospital break-in

The Brown County grand jury handed indictments Thursday, Dec 17 against four individuals suspected of breaking into the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Georgetown.

In November, a grainy set of photos which appeared to depict a man and woman trespassing into the hospital were released by Georgetown Police Department. Police had asked for the public’s help in identifying the individuals from the video surveillance footage.

Melissa Ray Cook, Adam W. Hart Jr., Gilbert Wayne Preston Jr., and Ryan Allen Waits were each indicted on one count of fifth-degree felony breaking & entering. The indictments allege they broke into the Southwest Regional Medical Center to commit theft.

According to court records, the four are being summoned to appear in court Feb 03, 2016.

Southwest Regional Medical Center has been closed since Sept 25, 2014.

Lake Waynoka woman accused of stealing from parents

A Lake Waynoka woman was arrested Wednesday, Dec 16 on suspicion of stealing jewelry and other collectibles from her parents.

Under police questioning, Amber Powell, age 29, allegedly admitted to stealing and pawning several items of jewelry belonging to her parents. She was quoted as saying she pawned her mother’s jewelry at Facet Pawn in Amelia, Ohio.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Brown County Municipal Court, Powell is accused of stealing several items of jewelry belonging to her mother, and several collectible coins, $2 dollar bills, and a still packaged action figure belonging to her father.

An initial estimated value for the stolen items is approximately $1,800.

The mother allegedly told Chief Ellis of Lake Waynoka Police Department she had been letting Powell stay with her for about two months after Powell was released from a half-way house.

Powell has been charged with fifth-degree felony theft and was released from jail on her own recognizance. She is expected to appear in court Jan 14, 2016.
